Blink-182 to headline at the Eden Sessions

Advertisements

added: 26 Jan 2012 // by: newsdesk

Blink-182-to-headline-at-the-Eden-Sessions Email this story Printable version

Blink-182, one of the biggest pop punk bands of all time, have been confirmed to headline an Eden Session on Sunday July 8.

The Californian three-piece come to Eden following the release of their acclaimed sixth studio album Neighborhoods last September, their first record since the band split in 2005.

Blink-182, otherwise known as Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker, are probably best known for 1999's seminal Enema of the State, which went on to sell 15m copies and spawned perhaps the band's most well-known singles All the Small Things, What's My Age Again and Adam's Song.

Enema of the State was Blink-182's third studio album, following 1994's Cheshire Cat and 1996's Dude Ranch. It preceded 2001's Take Off Your Pants and Jacket and their self-titled fifth studio album, released in 2003 and heralding a more mature sound for the trio.

The band split in 2005 but reformed in 2009. New album Neighborhoods continues the band's progression into more mature themes.

Blink-182 has sold more than 27 million albums in total and has won multiple awards, including Best New Act at the 2000 MTV Europe Music Awards and Best Rock Act at the same ceremony in 2001.

Martin Williams, Eden's Marketing Director, said: 'Blink-182 are a great coup for the Eden Sessions. The band defined the pop-punk sound of the late nineties and early noughties, mixing catchy guitar hooks with lyrics that tackle serious issues in a humorous way.

'We're really excited to be part of Blink's return to the top and can't wait to hear them perform songs from their long-awaited new album at Eden.'

Blink-182 are the second announcement for the 2012 Eden Sessions. UK soul and hip-hop star Plan B will headline a show on Friday July 6. More acts will be announced soon.

Tickets to the Blink-182 Eden Session cost £35 plus booking fee.

Megadeth to headline MetalFest 2012

Advertisements

Megadeth-to-headline-MetalFest-2012 Email this story Printable version

MEGADETH - strap yourselves in, dear friends, because MEGADETH have been confirmed to headline METALFEST 2012! It´s a real honor for us, to present this heavy metal legend to you, which is going to play exclusively at METALFEST in Germany, Austria, Croatia, Italy, Poland and Czech Republic, meaning you won´t see MEGADETH play any other summer festivals 2012 in these countries!

MEGADETH, who released milestone albums such as „Peace Sells. But Who´s Buying?', „Rust In Peace' or „Countdown To Extinction' have eternalized themselves in metal history and are rightly on top of the heavy metal movement, also known as the „Big 4'. In almost 30 years of their career they´ve achieved what others can only dream of, sold millions of records and among metal fans all over the world, MEGADETH are considered to be favorites no matter what. A MEGADETH record belongs to every metal household around the globe, without doubt.

Currently the band released their new work called „Th1rt3en'. Their last effort „Endgame' had already proven to be a step into the right direction and „Th1rt3en' should leave all critics speechless, once again. They sound as aggressive, raw and rampant as ever, Mustaine´s distinctive guitar play appears to be hugely currish and the riffing feels sharp as a butchers knife. Dave Mustaine´s vocals sound very much sinister and the rhythm section offers those furious riffs a pounding and grooving counterpart, that puts tracks such as „Whose life (is it anyways?)', „Fast lane' or „13' to a very high level of quality. „Th1rt3en' is a roaring and crushing statement of MEGADETH!

Tipped for a major breakthrough as one of XFM's 12 for 2012 and recently seen on stage as guests to Morrissey, The Courteneers, The Wombats, Hard-Fi and The Pigeon Detectives, All The Young can now confirm details of their upcoming UK headline tour.

This tour follows a run of eleven dates with the Kaiser Chiefs which commences at the end of the month and the release of an innovative web app live album that documents their recent sensational sold-out homecoming gig at Stoke's 1000+ capacity King's Hall.

March ' headline shows

21st ' Newcastle, Cluny
22nd ' Glasgow, King Tut's Wah Wah Hut
23rd ' Manchester, Academy 3
24th ' Keele, University
25th ' Birmingham, O2 Academy 3
26th ' Nottingham, Bodega
28th ' Bristol, The Fleece
29th ' Brighton, Green Door Store

'Live At The King's Hall, Stoke-on-Trent' is available to access for free at http://app.alltheyoung.co.uk/kingshall. It comprises the band's full ten-song set, two live videos from the show, official videos for their introductory singles 'Welcome Home', 'Quiet Night In' and 'The First Time', a photo gallery and liner notes written by the band. Fans can also download the app's full audio content by signing up for the band's e-mail list and can also share it with friends.

All The Young's next single 'The Horizon' will be released on March 26th and sees the band confounding expectations with a different sound to the tracks that have preceded it. As with the rest of their eagerly anticipated debut album which will follow later in the year, 'The Horizon' was produced by GGGarth Richardson (Biffy Clyro, Red Hot Chili Peppers) and mixed by Rich Costey (Muse, My Chemical Romance).

Black-Keys,-Radiohead,-Dr-Dre-and-Snoop-Dogg-to-headline-Coachella Email this story Printable version

This year's Coachella hosts big names, and some massive reunions in the form of At The Drive-In and Refused.

The Californian mega-festival Coachella has announced their line-up, looking suspiciously like the leaked poster that was unveiled before Christmas.

Day One will be headlined by The Black Keys, with Swedish House Mafia, Pulp, Arctic Monkeys, Mazzy Star, Afrojack, Explosions In The Sky and more.

The big news for the first day is that iconic and massively influential Swedish hardcore innovators Refused will reform for the show.

Day Two features Radiohead, Bon Iver, The Shins, David Guetta, Noel Gallaghers' High Flying Birds, Kaskade, Miike Snow and more.

And the final day features Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg, Justice, Florence And The Machine, AVICII, La Roux, Beirut and the reunion show for equally influential post-hardcore act At The Drive-In.

The festival runs over two weekend this year, April 13-15 and April 20-22.
