Rihanna has been 'going a bit wild' during her extended holiday.

The singer has enjoyed a lengthy break in her native Barbados recently, following the end of her Loud tour and the release of her new album.

There have been suggestions she has been partying too hard while there, with some claiming she has been smoking marijuana. However, those close to her insist she is just having fun while on holiday.

'Right now she's just letting off steam,' a source told Look magazine. 'Ri's been working hard and has just had her heart broken by Chris [Brown] again, so it's natural she wants to get drunk and go a bit wild. But we're all sure she'll get back to her usual happy self once she gets home and back into her routine.'

There has been speculation Rihanna and her ex-boyfriend Chris have been spending time together lately, but it's not thought they are back together.

They have been spotted in the same nightclub but Chris has a new girlfriend. It's thought he has been texting Rihanna, but it's more about the pair of them moving on from their fraught relationship.

'They were each other's first loves and that's something that'll never go away, which is why they were tweeting one another at the end of last year,' the insider added. 'But they were also really bad for each other. They argued all the time, and everyone knows the violent way the relationship ended.'

The former couple split three years ago after an argument turned violent. Chris was charged with assaulting the pop beauty and served with a restraining order.

The protective order slammed on the rapper was lifted a year ago. It required that they have no contact with each other.

Spice Girls to reunite for Queen's Jubilee

The Spice Girls are set to reunite for the British Queen's Diamond Jubilee this summer.

Band member Mel B let slip that the 1990s hit group will perform in honour of the monarch's anniversary celebrations in London.

The singer appeared on Australian TV and revealed that the Spice Girls will play an exclusive show at Buckingham Palace in front of the Royal Family on June 4.

The blunder happened when she was asked whether the girl band will perform at the 2012 London Olympic Games.

"Ooh, I think the Queen's Jubilee concert is the event I'd be looking at more closely for that to happen," she told Australian breakfast show Sunrise.

According to British newspaper The Sun, the star tried to distract from her slip-up by changing the subject.

However, she reportedly confirmed the news to TV workers after the programme.

Up until now the pop group were expected to perform at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

According to recent reports Mel B was trying to convince her fellow band members Geri Halliwell, Melanie Chisholm, Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham to sign up for the exclusive performance.

2011 may have been a big year in terms of online searches for the deaths of famous people, but Michael Jackson's demise in 2009 is still the 'Death That Most Shocked the Net' reveals a new study.

Searches for news of Jackson's departure were double those of Osama bin Laden who was narrowly ahead of Amy Winehouse (both of whom died last year) in a study of online searches since 2004.

The first global ranking of the world's 'Deaths That Shocked the Net' comes from analysing one billion online searches via Google by AccuraCast (www.accuracast.com), a leading U.K. digital search agency.

2011 had 5 big deaths in terms of search with Osama bin Laden, Amy Winehouse, Steve Jobs, Elizabeth Taylor and Muammar Gaddafi all featuring in the top ten of most searched for deaths of all time. Only 4 other years made it in the study ' 2010 for Alexander McQueen, 2009 with Michael Jackson and Brittany Murphy, 2008 for Heath Ledger and 2006 with Saddam Hussein.

The study shows that the average age of the top ten most searched for deaths is 50 years and 4 months. Amy Winehouse was the youngest on the list at 27 years of age with Elizabeth Taylor the oldest at seventy nine years of age.

The top ten contains 5 entertainers (3 film stars, 2 singers), 2 political leaders, 1 fashion designer, 1 terrorist and 1 technology pioneer ' Steve Jobs.

Violent death is the most common cause of death in the top ten search list with 4 in this category ' Bin Laden (shot), Saddam Hussein (hanged), Muammar Gaddafi (shot) and Alexander McQueen (suicide).

Homicide was found to have killed Michael Jackson, Steve Jobs died due to illness while drugs and alcohol accounted for Heath Ledger and Amy Winehouse respectively.

Brittany Murphy's death was judged as accidental while Elizabeth Taylor was the one person who died a natural death.

According to Farhad Divecha, AccuraCast Managing Director, 'Our study shows that, above all, death is the biggest driver of all Internet search activity especially just after it has occurred. Using figures from Google we have been able to analyse rises and falls in search to produce a unique league table'.

Dexters to play Lexington next week

Dexters single, 'Start To Run' has recently been awarded the accolade of 'Q Magazine Track Of The Day' and appeared on the NME Radar. Coming off the back of a rammed headline Club NME show at KOKO this is their first show of the year and a show not to be missed.

Support comes from Scouse songsmiths, and relatives of The Coral, The Sundowners and London four-piece, Storm Cat.

Dexters get their guitars out, plug them in, slide the benches away and play to a hall full of their eagerly anticipating mates. The stage, usually set for the morning assembly, transforms into Dexters' all conquering platform, where they've been crafting their sound and readying their repertoire to be unleashed.

What's refreshing about Dexters' sound is that it can't be easily pigeon-holed but the band don't shy away from influences, marvelling at the melodies of The La's, or even emulating the sheer punk, visceral aggression of The Clash or The Specials onstage.

'The time is right for Dexters,' says Tom. 'We hear it everywhere we go that people are ready for a band with big tunes and a proper energetic live show. I sincerely believe we are the band that they are waiting for.'

Florence Welch: I enjoy blowouts

Florence Welch only has a 'blowout' occasionally nowadays.

The Florence + the Machine star no longer drinks alcohol while on tour as she doesn't think it's conducive to good shows. However, when at home it's a different story.

'When I'm on tour I'm really strict with myself. But when I get back to London I still go a bit crazy. My sister will say, 'Where have you been for the last couple of days?' and I'll have been going out seeing friends. But that's only a blowout now and then, everyone has their moments. I'm still trying to figure out the balance. I'm still learning the best for me. I haven't figured everything out yet,' she explained.

Florence, 25, grew up following punk bands and when she hit the big time she tried to emulate them. That meant drinking a lot, especially when she saw many other modern groups behaving in that way.

She eventually decided to stop after worrying things had gone too far.

'I used alcohol to give me confidence on stage. Now I feel more comfortable with my music, I find confidence in that, but it took a while to get used to that,' she told Look magazine. 'At the level I was going, I don't think I could have kept it up. I couldn't carry on like that. I realise people had paid to come and see me and it had to stop.'

Sony Music in association with Capo Records and Legacy are proud to re-issue the first six original Rory Gallagher albums in chronological release date order ' 'Rory Gallagher' (1971), 'Deuce' (1971), 'Live In Europe!' (1972), 'Blueprint' (1973), 'Tattoo' (1973) and 'Irish Tour '74' (1974). These seminal re-issued albums celebrate 40 years since the start of Rory's solo career.

Rory Gallagher was a musician like no other.
His music lives on through generations of today's hottest guitarists including Slash, Joe Bonamassa, Brian May, Johnny Marr and The Edge; and also through his amazing catalogue including some of his finest works included in these milestone albums.

They were released during Rory's most prolific years (1971-74), when he recorded and produced 6 albums in a 3 year period. Each of the albums is now re-released in digipack form, with artwork restored from the original first release cover art. The audio has been re-mastered from the original ¼' inch tapes. Each album includes exclusive sleeve notes written by Donal Gallagher; Rory's brother and former tour manager, legendary photographer Mick Rock, and British journalist Roy Hollingworth.

After releasing two critically acclaimed albums with his first band, Taste, and playing the Isle of Wight in 1970, Rory left the band to pursue a solo career. His eponymous debut solo album was released in 1971.
'Deuce' became Rory's third self-penned album in a row - having written all of Taste's second album 'On The Boards' as well as the debut solo album 'Rory Gallagher'. 'Deuce' was recorded at Tangerine Studios in Dalston, East London, which had been built by the legendary British record producer Joe Meek.
'Live! In Europe' has served as a massive influence on budding musicians. U2's Adam Clayton and The Edge both cite the album as the recording that made them want to pick up the guitar and play in a rock'n'roll band.
After six years working as a trio (guitar, bass, drums), Rory embellished his sound by adding keyboards into the band. The line-up of Rory Gallagher (vocals, guitars), Gerry McAvoy (bass), Lou Martin (keyboards) and Rod De'Ath (drums, percussion), remained together from 1973-78, and would record five albums, 'Blueprint' was the first.
For his fifth solo album, rehearsals for 'Tattoo' started in a rowing club in Cork City. The album was released in the same year (1973), nine months after the 'Blueprint' album.
Considered by blues rock guitarist, Joe Bonamassa, to be one of the most influential live albums of all time, 'Irish Tour '74' was recorded at Belfast Ulster Hall, Dublin Carlton Cinema and Cork City Hall, during a time when live music was a rare occurrence, due to the troubles that were then at their most violent peak.

The first of the Grinderman remixes has been released. Nick Zinner from Yeah Yeah Yeahs 'Bellringer Blues' is our first taste of the upcoming 'Grinderman 2 RMX' remix album.

Nick Cave announced the demise of Grinderman late last year at the Meredith Festival outside Melbourne but fans will be treated to one more album, this remix album.

About Zinner's remix of 'Bellringer Blues', Grinderman said 'it shits all over the original'.

'Grinderman 2 RMX' will include Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme's remix of 'Micky Bloody Mouse' and Matt Berninger from The National reinventing 'Evil' with Grinderman's Jim Sclavunos.

Obama sends message for Etta James memorial

U.S. President Barack Obama send a message to be read at the memorial for Etta James earlier today.

The statement from the President read, 'Etta will be remembered for her legendary voice and her contributions to our nation's musical heritage.'

The President and First Lady made their first dance at the inaugural ball to Beyonce performing Etta's classic 'At Last'.

Etta James died on January 20 about a battle with leukemia.

The memorial was conducted by the Rev. Al Sharpton and featured a performance by Christina Aguilera singing 'At Last' and three songs from Stevie Wonder including 'Shelter In The Rain'.

'The genius of Etta James is she flipped the script,' Sharpton said in the eulogy. 'She waited until she turned her pain into power. You beat 'em Etta. At last. At last. At last!'

Etta leaves behind Artis Mills, her husband of 42-years and two sons Donto and Sarnetto.

Lady Gaga hires private chef

Lady Gaga will only eat food prepared by one British chef when she next visits London.

The Born This Way singer will travel to the UK in upcoming weeks on a promotional tour.

While she is in the country Lady Gaga will dine on food prepared by Angela Farmer, a sous chef in the lavish Lanesborough hotel.

'Gaga won't eat anything unless it's been specifically prepared by Angela which means meal times can be a bit of a nightmare when she's on promo duty,' a source told British newspaper The Mirror.

Lady Gaga is on a strict lean protein diet. The star eats five small meals a day and only drinks tea, water, coconut milk and sugar-free drinks.

Angela prepares healthy food just the way Lady Gaga likes it. The singer often eats the chef's meals on the go.

'[Gaga] specifically loves Angela's canapés of serrano-wrapped shrimps and her monkfish skewers, so quite often these are wrapped up and served as an on-the-road packed lunch,' the source added.

The Lanesborough is confident in their cuisine. The reputable establishment is happy to accommodate special requests like Lady Gaga's from time to time.

'Angela does work here and is one of a team of sous chefs working with executive chef Paul Gayler,' a Lanesborough spokesperson told the newspaper. 'We are known for our innovative cuisine so it sometimes happens that guests ask for a particular chef they like.'

Elton John's Rocket pictures to produce movie about unknown musician Lotte Mullan

Lotte Mullan, a former work experience employee in the record industry, is thrilled to announce that Rocket Pictures have acquired the rights to produce the movie of her life and her revelations from within the music business. Rocket Pictures is the production company formed by Elton John and David Furnish. Simultaneously, Lotte Mullan has landed a major music deal with lead film subscription service LOVEFiLM, who have used her sultry version of 'It Must Be Love' in their current UK TV advertising campaign.

The London based singer songwriter's amusing and honest blog about her experiences as a musician and temp within the industry was snapped up last year by screenwriter Nick Moorcroft (St Trinian's, Burke & Hare) and producing partner, Meg Leonard (Powder Keg Pictures) who immediately saw its potential as a comedy drama which they describe as a film somewhere between 'About A Boy' and 'Juno'.

The deal with Rocket Pictures is an amazing epilogue to Lotte Mullan's story. A totally independent character, Lotte Mullan has taken control of her own career following her record company experience. She even recently turned down a major record deal from one of her former employers, opting instead to continue to go it alone and use what she learned throughout her journey. Her label Raindog records will release her new single next month.

Lotte Mullan, explains: 'My original dream was for the big recording contract, but real life experience can really shatter the dream. I never imagined that my blog would be discovered instead. It's even more ironic that a musician owns the film company. My first album was Elton John's greatest hits on cassette in 1989, so it's a huge honour that Sir Elton John's film company is going to make a film based on my life.'

As if that wasn't enough, Lotte Mullan's version of Labi Siffre's 'It Must Be Love' has been handpicked by LOVEFiLM's marketing team to soundtrack their current TV advert. The sync deal puts Lotte Mullan in the company of artists such as James Vincent McMorrow who have been plucked from relative obscurity to feature in LOVEFiLM's music led adverting campaigns. Due to popular demand 'It Must Be Love' has been released via iTunes.

Lotte Mullan's story started whilst working three days a week for one the world's biggest labels Warner Bros Records with acts such as REM and The Who. Despite working for labels, the 27 year-old musician and performer was consistently rejected by them for a recording contract so formed her own label, running it from her flat, then producing and promoting her own record. Her shoestring budget led to her making videos on her iPhone, booking her own gigs and using her boyfriend's car as 'tour bus'.

Mullan's continuous online blog revealed tales of her time in the music industry; suffering rejection, inappropriate touching, awkward sweaty hugs, the perils of social networking, chipped toenails, living in cold, damp-ridden bedsits, being plucked, pumped and primed and men relieving themselves in bottles next to her.

Making 2012 a year to remember, Lotte Mullan will release a brand new single on her own label Raindog Records on 20 February. The track entitled 'I'm Alright With Me' is a perfect example of Lotte's quirky bouncy personality and talent for writing truthful lyrics about life's experiences ' good or bad.

Dr Conrad Murray requests jail release

Dr Conrad Murray has asked to be released from jail.

The 58-year-old physician was sentenced to four years behind bars for the involuntary manslaughter of Michael Jackson, who died two years ago from acute Propofol intoxication.

Murray appealed his conviction last month and is now requesting that a judge release him from jail on no bail.

TMZ reports that Murray believes he had an unfair trial.

'[During the trial there was] improper exclusion of defense evidence and witnesses that resulted in violating the defendant's State and constitutional rights to due process, to present a defense and to the effective assistance of counsel,' the legal documents read.

Murray is reportedly living in solitary confinement under maximum security conditions.

If granted release from jail as requested in his appeal, Murray would wear an electronic monitoring bracelet.

He is planning on living with Nicole Alvarez, the mother of his children.

Murray stated he would take up employment to support his family.

His medical license has been revoked and it is unknown what job he plans on pursuing.

The former heart surgeon will represent himself through the appeal process.

Despite being early in his musical career, he can already lay claim to four number 1 singles and two wildly popular albums! ABBA fans are about to hear the first "new" music from the group since the Thank You For the Music box set in 1994 with the release of a rare and previously unreleased piece.

From A Twinkling Star To A Passing Angel was a medley of demos recorded but not used on the final Abba album The Visitors in 1981.

A remastered version of the album was released in 1997 and contained extra tracks but not this one. The new Deluxe edition of The Visitors is scheduled for April 23, 2012.

Abba recorded The Visitors between March 16 and November 14, 1981 and released the album on November 30, 1981.

The album was the very first CD pressed at Polygram's CD plant in Europe.

Since the original 1981 album release, The Visitors has been reissued three times, first in 1997, then 2001 and again in 2005 as part of The Complete Studio Recordings.

For the record, Abba never officially broke-up but their last appearance together was on the British TV program The Late, Late Breakfast Show on December 11, 1982. Throughout 1983 and 1984, Anna and Frida still talked about another Abba album but it never happened.

The four members have only been seen together twice since the British TV show, once in 1986 and again for the Mamma Mia movie premiere in Sweden in 2008.

The Musical Box to play 'The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway'

THE MUSICAL BOX, the only band in the world to obtain the performing rights and access to the full original archives for "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" from Peter Gabriel and Genesis, will perform 4 shows in the UK in March.

The critically acclaimed production has been performed with great success in some of the most prestigious venues in the world, such as London's Royal Albert Hall and the Olympia in Paris. In 2005, Phil Collins joined the band on stage in Geneva, Peter Gabriel takes his children to the shows and Steve Hackett has joined them onstage on more than one occasion. Collins once said "I watched and listened. They played that stuff better than we ever did."

One of the very first Rock Operas in history, 'The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway' was released as a double album in 1974. The tour that followed was a ground-breaking theatrical production, which The Musical Box reproduces in its entirety in painstaking detail. The show is supported by over 1200 original slides, original costumes and props together with an arsenal of visual effects and pyrotechnics.

Guns N� Roses announce first 2012 shows

There will be some Guns N' Roses activity this year but so far only in Europe.

Two dates have been announced for May, one for Ireland and one for Italy.

Guns N' Roses are locked in to play Dublin's O2 Arena on May 17 and the Gods of Metal festival in Italy on May 22.

Guns N' Roses will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April but at this stage there has been no confirmation of a performance or if the original members will actually all stand on stage together to collect the award.

Axl Rose has been in the studio working on a new Guns N' Roses album. However, considering the last one 'Chinese Democracy' took 12 years to release, don't hold your breath waiting for a follow-up.

Trent Reznor and Atticus Rose have made available the stems for five of the songs from 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' soundtrack.

While none of the tracks were nominated for Song of the Year for the 2012 Academy Awards (because The Oscars seems to forget music existed in movies this past year) Reznor and Rose did win an Oscar in the previous year for their soundtrack work for The Social Network.

The stems for 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' have been available for your own person use only. They cannot be used for commercial purposes.

Reznor and Rose have them available until March 31, 2012.

Gilbert O'Sullivan, one of the country's most revered singers, songwriters and musicians, celebrates an amazing forty-five year recording career with the release of 'A Singer and His Songs - The Very Best Of Gilbert O'Sullivan' on 5th March 2012, through Union Square Music. The album will also be supported by a full UK tour beginning on 17th March through to 15th April.

Part of a major Gilbert O'Sullivan reissue campaign, the album chronicles songs from his debut album, 'Himself' in 1971, through to his most recent album 'Gilbertville' and features no less than 14 top 10 UK hits, including the multi-million US selling and Grammy-nominated, 'Alone Again (Naturally)', the unforgettable UK number 1 'Clair' and 'Get Down, for which he won two Ivor Novello Awards in 1973, for Best Song and Best Songwriter.

Gilbert's first two albums, 'Himself' and 'Back To Front' both stayed in the UK chart for over a year (86 and 64 weeks respectively) and in 1972 Gilbert was the biggest selling UK artist in the world. The incredible success of 'Alone Again (Naturally)' in America catapulted Gilbert into stardom and he made several appearance on US shows hosted by music legends such as Dean Martin and Burt Bacharach.

Gilbert's songs have appeared in TV series including The Simpsons and Life On Mars and in films such as The Virgin Suicides, Stuart Little, Margot At The Wedding and Stuck On You. His songs have been covered by acts as diverse as Elton John, Bobby Darin, The Feeling, Nina Simone, Har Mar Superstar, Sarah Vaughan, Andy Williams, The Pet Shop Boys, Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, and Herb Alpert, and at a recent live show in Dublin Morrissey performed a version of 'Nothing Rhymed' .

'Nothing Rhymed' was also name-checked by Richard Curtis, who on accepting a Bafta for Comic Relief, recited the following lyrics as a motivating factor behind his setting up of the charity: 'When I'm drinking my Bonaparte Shandy, eating more than enough apple pies, will I glance at my screen and see real human beings starve to death right in front of my eyes?' Then he added in his own words 'Eat your heart out, Bob Dylan!'

More recently 'Gilbertville', which was released in January 2011, was hailed as one of his finest albums to date, which led critics and the media to suggest maybe it was time to revisit O'Sullivan's career for re-appraisal.

U2 spent a couple of years on the road for the U2360° tour and, as a thank you to their biggest fans, they are releasing a 22-song compilation from the tour.

The limited edition disc will be made available to subscribers of u2.com only.

U2 performed 46 different songs during the U2360° tour spanning nine albums over 30 years and invited fans at u2.com to shortlist them for this release.

'This is really going to be a special CD,' said Adam Clayton tells U2.com. 'I wasn't expecting some of these tunes, it's a really fresh collection and it's going to make very interesting listening.'

Hundreds mourn Etta James at funeral

Etta James' funeral was attended by hundreds of family, famous friends and fans yesterday.

The legendary soul singer died on January 20 aged 73 after a long battle with cancer and dementia.

Reverend Al Sharpton led the service at the Inglewood Cemetery Mortuary and delivered a heartfelt eulogy.

Sharpton had the honour of meeting Etta when he was a young preacher and described her music as a 'bridge of American culture that changed the culture of the world".

"Etta James helped break down the culture curtain of America before the Civil Rights Act of 1964," the BBC quoted him as saying. "She was able to get us to sing the same rhythms and melodies."

The civil rights activist also read out a note sent by US President Barrack Obama, in which he praised her contribution to "our nation's musical heritage".

Christina Aguilera and Stevie Wonder performed songs by the musical icon during the service in Los Angeles.

Christina introduced hers with an emotional speech.

"Out of all the singers that I've ever heard, she was the one that cut right to my soul and spoke to me," she said.

The pop star performed a stunning version of James' famous song At Last and was praised on Twitter and by the media for her powerful vocals. She had tweeted days earlier about how much the singer had meant to her.

'One of the greatest moments of my life... Singing with my idol, the legendary Etta James. You will be forever missed,' she wrote on the social network.

Legendary artist Stevie Wonder sang three songs, including his hit Shelter In the Rain.

Florence Welch: I�ll perform for Winehouse

Florence Welch would be 'honoured' to perform at an Amy Winehouse tribute concert.

Amy died aged 27 last July and her father Mitch has confirmed a show in her honor will take place later this year. Florence would love to be involved if at all possible.

'It'd be an honour to sing at the tribute concert but I have to see how it fits in with touring,' she said.

Florence was shocked when she heard Amy had passed away last year. Although the two weren't really friends Florence was a big fan of the soul star's music.

'I was devastated when Amy died. It was such a shock, it shouldn't have happened. We weren't close, but I thought she was an incredible performer. The first time I saw her was the first time I'd performed at Glastonbury ' the really muddy year. We had some time off so my friends and I went to watch her and she was incredible,' she told Look magazine.

Jessie J and Lily Allen are rumoured to be playing at the tribute concert.

Mitch Winehouse has criticised fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier after he used her as inspiration for a catwalk show reports xfm.co.uk

Models at the designer's show at Paris Fasion Week sported Amy Winehouse style massive beehives, winged eyeliner and were smoking fags while walking down the catwalk.

The music of the Back to Black singer was sung by a barbershop quartet in the background.

Her Dad Mitch has reacted angrily at the tribute saying it "bad taste" in an interview with The Sun and commenting that it portrayed Amy at her worst.

"We're still grieving for her loss, and we've had a difficult week with the six-month anniversary of Amy's death," he explained.

He went on to add, "It portrays a view of Amy when she was not at her best, and glamorises some of the more upsetting times in her life. That's upsetting for her family."

Jessica Simpson reportedly fears that she will 'be all alone' when she gives birth.

The superstar and her fiancé Eric Johnson are expecting their first child together.

Jessica, who is thought to be giving birth through caesarean section in April, is frightened about having the baby.

'Her big fear is that [Eric] will not be there for her when the baby's coming,' a source told OK! magazine. 'Jessica really fears she will be going into labour and be all alone. It's a really hard time for her because here she is in her last trimester, and she's always imagined that having a baby would be the happiest day of her life. But now she worries.'

Jessica is excitable at the moment and many things are stirring her anxiety.

'She's in an emotional state right now, to say the least,' the source continued. 'Her hormones are all over the place so it's understandable that she's panicking. She's very needy right now. She's in an emotional tailspin.'

Although Jessica may be worried, but friends and family believe that Eric will be by Jessica's side when the baby comes.

'Eric will be there and her family really believes in him,' the source said. 'But calming Jess down is very difficult right now because she's understandably scared and in pain. Everyone is pulling for her and looking forward to when she calms down after the birth.'

The Popes to support The Stranglers on UK tour

The Popes return with their new album in March 2012 ' the follow up to 2009'2 critically acclaimed 'Outlaw Heaven'. 'New Church' is the band's strongest album to date - from punked up blitzkreig of opener 'Storming Heaven' to the rousing Celtic tones of 'How Many Bullets', from the feelgood anthem that is 'Alice' to the Bond theme-esque vibe of the brooding 'In A Broken Dream'. Coldplay to play Secret Policeman�s Ball

The funniest night of the decade has been set for Sunday 4th March with the announcement today of the return of Amnesty International's Secret Policeman's Ball.

Multi award-winners Coldplay, The Daily Show's Jon Stewart, and comedian and actor Russell Brand will be joined by a stellar cast of fellow stars from the world of entertainment to commemorate 50 years of Amnesty International at New York's Radio City Music Hall. It's the first time the Ball has been held outside of the UK.

Since John Cleese and friends brought together a star-studded mix of comedians and rock stars for The Secret Policeman's Ball in 1976, the legendary Amnesty International show has championed the right to free speech for people across the world. The New York gala event will also feature UK act Mumford & Sons, along with US stars Stephen Colbert, and Reggie Watts, joined by a host of others to help spread Amnesty International's message to a global audience.

John Cleese, one of the pioneers behind the original Secret Policeman's Balls, said: "I used to think humour was a luxury, but at the last election Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert taught me it was a necessity. The Secret Policeman's Ball was - and is - a coming together of the very best comedy talent of any generation to celebrate their art, remind audiences how important free speech is, and highlight just how much vital work Amnesty International does to protect it. I implore you to support it.'
Chris Martin of Coldplay, said: "We are so happy to be involved with the 2012 Secret Policeman's Ball. We have followed and supported Amnesty International - and the amazing work they do around the world in the field of human rights ' for years, and it is a pleasure to be asked to contribute to such an inspiring event."

A supporting online campaign at facebook.com/secretpoliceman will reveal further stars of the show in the coming weeks. Top UK comedians Alexander Armstrong and Ben Miller have voiced new animations created for the campaign by leading French artist, McBess.

An audience of more than 6,000 people will gather at Radio City Music Hall to experience a one-off night of original performances, first time collaborations, unique comedy sketches and stand-up from the funniest men and women on both sides of the Atlantic.

Previous Secret Policeman's Balls have featured some of British comedy's most iconic sketches including Monty Python's 'Four Yorkshiremen' and the famous 'Dead Parrot', Peter Cook's 'Biased Judge' and the then unknown Rowan Atkinson's 'School Master'. The 2012 Ball will create new classic moments of its own with three hours of new material specially written for the landmark event.

The great Etta James was eulogized earlier today at the Greater Bethany Community Church City of Refuge in Gardena, CA. The Reverend Al Sharpton officiated, reading a letter from President Obama that said "Etta will be remembered for her legendary voice and her contributions to our nation's musical heritage."

Performers included Stevie Wonder, who performed The Lord's Prayer and his own Shelter in the Rain and this gospel take on James' classic, At Last, by Christina Aguilera.

Ex Judas Priest guitarist to build luxury hotel in garden

Judas Priest guitarist KK Downing has plans to open a hotel in the grounds of his home.

Downing ' a founding member of the band ' told the Shropshire Star that he is currently talking to investors and hopes to get started on the building this year.

'I'm 60 years old now so I really want to get things completed. That's always been the endgame,' he told the paper.

'When it comes to the vision I know exactly what I want to do but once we develop the hotel and leisure side of things I'll need to bring in professionals to run the operation because it's impossible to do it on your own.'

He also said that he is planning on being 'a flagship sports and leisure facility to seriously put Bridgenorth and the surrounding areas on the map, not just nationally but internationally.'

The hotel will have 63 rooms, an indoor swimming pool, a spa and a 'top class' restaurant.

Downing helped found Judas Priest in 1969. Their riffy metal was at the time unheard of and they quickly became one of the most influential bands in the world. Their hits include Breakin' The Law and Living After Midnight, both off their sixth album British Steel.

The band's most recent album was the 2008 concept album Nostradamus.

Downing left Judas Priest mid-tour on April 20, 2011.

Rihanna gets �Thug Life� tattoo

Rihanna has shown off her new tattoo on Twitter which she got in a parlour in Hollywood this week.

The 23-year-old singer was inspired by the late rapper Tupac Shakur and had the words 'Thug Life' inked onto her knuckles.

And instead of going for the usual black design she had the words tattooed in pink ink.

'All these b****es screaming that 2pac back #THUGLIFE,' she wrote.

Tupac formed a group of the same name back in 1993 and released their only album Thug Life: Volume 1 the following year.

The Only Girl In The World songstress also appeared to have got another etching on her back as she posted another image of her lying down on her stomach with tattoo artist Mark Mahoney working on the design while she held a bottle of beer.

'I #LOVE my new tattoo!!! Can't wait for yall to see it!!! I got it in 'Tibetan' this time!!! #approved,' she later wrote. (sic)

Rihanna has approximately 15 tattoos already with no sign of stopping.

Ne-Yo to �revitalise� Motown

Ne-Yo has been hired to bring Motown back to its 'original glory'.

The successful singer and songwriter has been recruited as senior vice president of A&R to breathe fresh air into the legendary label.

The R&B star will be in charge of discovering and nurturing new talent for the record company who once had Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye on their books.

"They sat me down and talked to me about the whole revitalisation of Motown, bringing Motown back to its original glory," Ne-Yo told MTV News. "I gotta say, beyond anything else, I was just flattered that they thought me worthy of such a responsibility."

Ne-Yo has enjoyed a hugely successful career not only with his own music but also writing and producing for other stars including Beyoncé Knowles and Mary J Blige.

The Beautiful Monster singer admitted that he is more than aware of the responsibility of his new task.

Currently working on his fifth studio album, he said that the Motown job has given him a new outlook on things.

"It's great big shoes to fill. I was told at one point the title that I now hold is the title that Smokey Robinson held when he was there," he said.

"As of right now, there is no title for the album. I'm still working on that ... the running title was The Cracks in Mr. Perfect, but I'm in a whole 'nother head space now."

Merle Haggard is once again out of the hospital and has traveled from Macon, GA to his home in Redding, CA to recuperate. Haggard had been hospitalized twice in the last week in Macon for treatment of pneumonia and a number of other ailments.
Merle will recuperate for a number of weeks before going back on the road in late-February.

America will receive the 2,459th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on February 6. Gary Beckley and Dewey Bunnell will be honored in front of the Musician's Institute surrounded by the likes of Motley Crue, Ozzy Osbourne, Rush, Al Jolson and Hal David.

The great Glen Campbell will perform on this year's Grammy broadcast with Blake Shelton and the Band Perry. Glen is a Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient and is currently out on the road with his Goodbye Tour. He recently revealed that he is in the early stages of Alzheimers.
Sergio Mendes, who is up for an Academy Award for best song for Real in Rio from the animated film Rio, says that there will most likely be a sequel to the film. He said on Tuesday "I think the plan is for the movie to come three or four months before the World Cup. Fox has been talking about (it) and it looks like it's going to happen. We're going to have a meeting I think next week and Carlos [Saldanha, the director] is coming to town to tell us the story, and it looks like it's a go."

Peter Hook, formerly of Joy Division, doesn't seem too upset with the whole Disney/Unknown Pleasures T-Shirt controversy. He told Billboard, "It's a funny one. I suppose you would have to say it's a compliment coming from an organization like Disney. When you consider that Joy Division were only together for three years, it's certainly a fantastic compliment 34 years later to still be able to make a splash like this is. The fact that it's sold out is an even greater compliment. I tried to get one but it seems that they're all gone."

CBS, the Academy of Country Music and Dick Clark Productions have announced that they have agreed to a ten year deal that will keep the awards on CBS through 2021. CBS has carried the annual affair since 1998.

Simon Cowell searching for new DJ Superstar

Simon Cowell is expanding his competition show empire with a hunt for the new DJ Superstar.

The X Factor judge is working with Will and Jada Pinkett Smith's production company Overbrook Entertainment to find the best new DJ.

The show will be a live international reality show to hunt out the finest talent from around the globe.

'We've been working on this show for over a year and we wanted to partner with the right people,' Simon said in a statement.

He added that as soon as he spoke with Jada and her producing partner Miguel Melendez, he knew he had found the right team.

'DJs are the new rock stars,' Simon explained on why he is venturing into this arena. 'It feels like the right time to make the show.'

Simon has been part of some of the biggest shows on television including American Idol, The X Factor, and Britain's Got Talent.

Jada also added her excitement about the new show and said she was thrilled about the project.

'This show will comb the world to find a new breed of talent,' she proclaimed.

Blink-182 reveal new material

Blink-182 have started to work on new material.

Bassist Mark Hoppus has been playing around with new melodies and trying them out on his guitar at home.

The new songs will be part of the follow-up record to 2011's Neighborhoods.

However, he explained that at this stage it is too soon to say what the new album will sound like.

'It's really too early to tell. At the moment, all I've got is a bunch of chord progressions and ideas,' he told British music magazine Kerrang! 'I don't have anything that's solidified into what I'd call I song, it's more me playing my guitar at my house and coming up with melodies and little ideas.'

Mark also spoke about the band's upcoming UK tour.

After postponing the sold-out series of shows in 2011, Blink-182 will be touring British venues from Bournemouth to Cornwall this year.

When told that the Eden Sessions Outdoor Festival is set around space-age style constructions, Mark said that the group will think of something special to match the surreal surroundings.

'Nice! I can't wait to check that out ' that sounds cool,' he said. 'Actually, if it looks like something on Mars, then I'm sure Tom [DeLonge, vocals/guitar] will have a lot of ideas. If it looks like something from space, Tom will freak out about it. He's bound to come up with something cool.'

Beth Ditto: Call me Madonna

Beth Ditto was 'over the moon' to hear she had inspired Madonna.

The singer is currently promoting her solo EP and has recalled her excitement after discovering the Queen of Pop cited her material as an influence for her new album MDNA.

The Gossip frontwoman would love to write for the iconic musician.

'I was over the moon when I heard that,' she told British magazine NME. 'I got a fire in my ass about wanting to write for her. I was like, 'Get on the horn and call me, Madge! Does anyone have Madonna's phone number?' Oh hold on, no-one does.'

Beth also spoke about her collaboration with successful producer Mark Ronson.

The pair have been working together on the upcoming Gossip album and got on amazingly well.

'I love Mark and we worked together really well. He's a Virgo and I'm a Pisces, so we complemented each other's personalities. One of our most common bonds was that we both loved big voices, church voices,' she said. 'He loves country music, which is a big deal to me because, you know, in terms of things I love, country music is probably number one.'

Kelly Clarkson: Gay rumours are hilarious

Kelly Clarkson 'finds it funny' that people think she is a lesbian.

The Grammy Award-winning singer is currently single. The lack of a male presence in her life has fuelled speculation that she is gay but Kelly isn't deterred by such rumours.

'I don't think it's harmful at all,' she laughed in an interview with British newspaper The Mirror.

'But I just don't know why people think I am. I never kiss women. I find it funny. Also I'm such a vocal person, I've never hidden much. So I don't understand why they don't take me on my word. I find that a little bit annoying. But if people think I'm gay, I don't really care.

'I'm a kinda selfish person who right now enjoys being single, enjoys the fact that I can work as much as I do, and not really have to answer to anyone.'

Kelly is famed for rock pop anthems, which have a strong female empowerment message resounding through them. The 29-year-old star says her twice-divorced mother and tumultuous upbringing reflects in the lyrics of her songs.

'We had fun but there was struggle too. Now I don't have to worry about having clean clothes or paying the bills too late, but that level of stress definitely has an effect,' she revealed.

'Divorce isn't fun. It affects relationships you get into when you are older. I think you have to work a little harder because you're constantly thinking it's probably not going to work out in the end. Also, I travel a lot and work a lot. The way I live it's hard for me to even find someone.'

Kelly lives in Texas, She is surrounded by animals and owns nine firearms.

'I grew up around my guns. My whole family and all my friends had guns and we'd go to shooting ranges. I live alone so my guns are a safety precaution. If the alarm goes off I feel I have a fighting chance,' she said.

Kelly's life hasn't changed much since shooting to superstardom. The songstress has the same group of friends since childhood.

'They've always been big believers that I was going to be able to sing for a living. They always thought it was going to happen for me and have been super supportive, so when I was successful it didn't really faze them,' she said.

Kelly avoids the party lifestyle when on tour. She'd prefer to concentrate on her music.

'I don't understand how people do that on the road,' she says. 'I'm definitely a workaholic. If you finally get to do the job you love, you work your butt off.'

Madonna says 'magic happens' when she works with William Orbit.

The 53-year-old superstar is gearing up to release her latest musical offering, M.D.N.A.. Madonna worked with producer William Orbit on a number of tracks on the upcoming album, including her Golden Globe Award-winning Masterpiece.

The songstress has complete faith in collaborating with William.

"Magic happens when we get into a recording studio together,' she told MTV News.

Madonna loves working with William because the process happens so naturally. The American singer says their collaborations are always so smooth because they understand each other.

"With William, I didn''t really have a discussion," she explained.

"We''ve worked on stuff for so many years that we kind of finish each other''s sentences. He knows my taste and what I like."

The relationship between Madonna and William is a long-standing one. The star produced most of the tracks on Madonna's Ray of Light record, including Frozen and The Power of Good-Bye.

The album ' which was released in 1998 - won several Grammy Awards and Video Music Awards.

William also produced Madonna's Beautiful Stranger song for the Austin Powers: The Spy Who Sh**ged Me soundtrack. It picked up a Grammy Award in 2000.

Journey's Deen Castronovo arrested for assaulting girlfriend

Deen Castronovo, the drummer for Journey for more than a decade, was arrested last Saturday in Salem, Oregon after an argument with his girlfriend got physical.

According to TMZ, Castronovo not only had the altercation, but received additional charges when he took the phone away from the woman while she was trying to call her father. He was booked into the Polk County Jail on charges that included assault in the 4th degree, criminal mischief in the 2nd degree, harassment, coercion and interfering with making a report. Bail was set at $52,500.

A source told the site that Castronovo believes it was "a misunderstanding that should not have been escalated to such a level in the first place."

Castronovo has played on albums from a multitude of artists including Bad English, Ozzy Osbourne, Steve Vai and Social Distortion. He has been on all five of Journey's albums released since 2000.

Demi Moore �struggling to function�

Demi Moore's life is thought to be 'completely in crisis.'

The painfully thin 49-year-old actress was admitted to hospital earlier this week after suffering from a seizure.

Demi remains infirmed and is reportedly being treated for anorexia, among other 'substance abuse issues'.

Friends close to the star believe that her life is in shambles.

'Her life is completely in crisis,' a source told Us Weekly magazine. 'She is turning 50 and has no idea who she is or what her focus should be.'

Demi has apparently hit rock bottom in many ways. The star is finding it difficult to cope with day-to-day matters.

'She has spiraled and gotten to a place where she is struggling too much to function,' the source continued.

Demi is receiving support through the crisis from loved ones, including her dear friend Madonna.

'Madonna told Demi she was there if she needs anything,' an insider revealed to E! Online. 'They''re pretty tight.'

Demi was left devastated last year after reports emerged that her husband of six-years, Ashton Kutcher, had cheated on her on their sixth wedding anniversary. She announced soon after that she was ending the marriage but divorce papers have not yet been filed.

She is currently being treated in a Los Angeles medical facility.

Kylie Minogue is inspired by her 'fulfilling relationship'.

The stunning singer has been dating Spanish model Andres Velencoso for around two years.

Before dating Andres, Kylie was in a relationship with French actor Olivier Martinez, who is now rumoured to be engaged to Halle Berry.

Kylie is happy with romance with Andres, as she feels that the pair balance love and work well with one another.

'I love what I do. The more I learn, the better I am at it. It's like discovering a new kind of freedom,' Kylie explained to British newspaper The Daily Mail. 'I've learnt recently that I can still be in a fulfilling relationship. After you have a break-up you wonder if you can do this again.'

Kylie feels that her relationship with Andres helps keep her balanced.

'Sometimes if I've had a bad day I don't want to see anyone. I just want to feel miserable on my own,' Kylie shared. 'But sometimes it's nice if someone's there to bring you out of that state. This just feels right. He's one of these people you could just drop anywhere and he'd be fine, which sometimes I curse him for. I'm the one who has anxiety. I'm up and down, he's much more consistent.'

Kylie is happy with the way things are heading with Andres. The 42-year-old singer is unsure about having children with the model, who is nine-years her junior.

AC/DC album delayed due to illness

Brian Johnson has revealed that the new AC/DC album is on hold because 'one of the boys' is getting over an illness.

We don't know who it is, but Johnson told an American radio program that the recording of the new AC/DC album has been delayed due to the illness of a band member.

Johnson spoke with The Cowhead Show out of St. Petersburg, FL, saying "One of the boys is a little sick and I can't say anything, but he's getting better. He's doing wonderful. Full recovery fully expected."

Brian also talked about the joy of getting back to work with the rest of the band. "It's a wonderful thing when we get in a room. Whenever the boys get back together, I get all excited. The boys, after a while, pick the guitars up, Phil will make his way to the drums, Cliff will pull his bass out and then all of a sudden this noise comes out and I sit there with just this big old grin on my face."

AC/DC's last album was 2008's Black Ice. You can hear the entire interview at the Cowheed Show website.

Johnson, himself, will be practicing another one of his passions on January 28 when he runs in the 50th Rolex 24 Auto Race at Daytona Speedway. Shortly afterwards, he will be undergoing wrist surgery.

The Brute Chorus set to release new single 'My Testament'

Fans of The Brute Chorus will be delighted to learn that the band are planning to release their new single My Testament on March 12th.

Regulars to the Brute's exciting live shows will know it as the song that has adorned the end of their sets since last summer, a rapturous last hurrah that brings their show to a triumphant climax.

The single is based on a forgotten blues stomper by an equally forgotten Big Brown & The Gamblers that the boys came across while digging among the racks at Camden's Sounds That Swing, a mecca for record collectors and rockabilly fanatics. Now augmented with original verses by the band the song finds singer James Steel declaring what should be done with his earthly remains once he's gone, finally concluding

'...and if the grave don't want me I'll just wait alone here 'til doomsday...'

Self produced and possessing all the garage qualities of the band's beloved Dirtbombs or Billy Childish & the Buff Medways this record sees the band dancing their way to oblivion with their most upbeat and jubilant track to date.

My Testament is to be released as a free download to coincide with The Brute Chorus' first visit to America, a short tour beginning in New York and finishing with the band's first appearance at the renowned SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas.
